Family Perspectives

The volunteer is very friendly and helpful and puts me at ease.  She’s so good with my daughter and I know she will come with me to a social event such as a mother and toddler group, and that makes me feel more confident.
When both of my children were diagnosed with autism I was devastated, my heart broke in pieces and I became very low and unable to cope resulting in a breakdown.  Then I found Home-Start although I was reluctant to ask for help at first because I felt a failure as a mother.  My volunteer helped me to see things more clearly and I started to find strength to cope more and more each week.

It’s good to be able to talk to someone else who’s had children.  I feel comfortable around my volunteer and my children love her.

I am a single parent and was finding life pretty hard juggling college, housework and children.  My volunteer only started a few weeks ago but already the change in me is fantastic.  She does not judge me or say I do things wrong, she just gives me a lot of support and without her help I don’t know how I would have coped.

The extra activities such as coffee mornings, parties and outings are an added bonus.

Children are great, but everyone needs a break at times.

I cannot begin to say how much everything you do means to me – priceless.  We are such an extremely lucky family to have received such wonderful support and help when needed most.  Without you, I would be lost.

The contribution Home-Start has made to the improvements  in the lives of the children and myself is huge.  I also feel that due to the support from Home-Start Runnymede I am, and will continue to be, a far better parent than I would otherwise have been.

Life is not always easy, but having Home-Start really helps.  My volunteer is someone to talk to, who listens and who cares.

I feel so lucky to have an organisation like Home-Start Runnymede because they do make such a difference to many people’s lives, especially the children ( who are our future).

Having suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome for 10 years it took a long time to recover after the birth of my twins.  My volunteer has is an absolute godsend as she has helped me with feeding and bathing and she plays with the babies while I have a rest or get on with all the jobs that need doing..
